"The Search for Monisha" was presented as the premier piece for The Stiks exhibit at Maleny Wood Expo in May 2013.  It came third in the Wootha Prize that year.

When it comes to selection of wood for Guy's sculpture, it is paramount that it has its own interesting and unique character.
Searching for and admiring timber at The Stiks is a source of great enjoyment and inspiration for Guy, his family and friends.
When exploring the forest with Guy, Dan noticed  the twists, turns and rough exterior of a branch of a dead Flame She Oak tree at right, which he thought would have the makings of an interesting piece based upon the female form.
Dan's selection is named in honour of his fiancee and now wife, Monisha, who is Guy and Jan's daughter.

Before carving started

The legs are carved from Budgeroo branches.

Most of the sapwood has been removed .
Carving commences at this stage.

The variety of different shapes has added interest to the theme of a young woman.
